Written on the Bodyby Jeanette Winterson |
Ashley Barry: This is likely the
single best love story you will ever read
in your life. It is both uniquely and brilliantly written,
and a portion of the text is highly experimental. Not only is it told
from the point of view of a genderless narrator (meaning we never find
out if the narrator is Hetero, homo, or bisexual), but the narrator
elevates his/her love for louise, the object of affection, by loving
not just her eyes or her hair. The narrator loves even her cells and
her tissues. This book will challenge you to think about love,
relationships, and our bodies in a beautiful and provocative way. This
book is a little hard to get into at first, but if you stick with it,
it will certainly be worth the effort.
