The Physick Book of Deliverance Daneby Katherine Howe |
Wanda Cohen: Awesome book. It is exactly as the cover says.
"A gripping supernatural puzzler... spellbinding." Historical fiction at it's best.
The author moves between the present and the past seamlessly. The characters are
people you want to meet over coffee and listen to their stories first hand.
Connie Goodwin is working on her doctoral dissertation, she thinks. As the plot
unfolds, she is drawn into a world that she doesn't believe in but must explore.
Deliverance Dane is an astonishing woman who lived in Colonial America in the 1690s.
A time when astonishing women might not live to see old age. I don't want to give
anything away so no more details. I will say, it will make you appreciate little
things like standardized spelling, electric lights and air conditioning and a
loyal dog.
