The Maytreesby Annie Dillard |
Judy Stanton:
This is the first book I've read by Annie Dillard;
it came highly recommended and has been a book club read for some.
The bio of Dillard called her a "gregarious recluse," and the story
reflected that nature...somewhat Thoreau-like descriptions of living
simply and enjoying nature. It was the first book I can recall in a
very long time where I was stopped pretty regularly by words that I
had never seen before! (no, I didn't look them all up)
It was a quick read and did have a quirkly
storyline with interesting relationship issues.
I'm glad I read it, but I'm not planning on checking out her other novels.
