Arlene Almas: I found this a brilliant example of the
type of novel told from the different points of view of various interrelated characters.
We have a couple still mourning the loss of their grown son, a long-time family friend of
theirs, a playwright who was their son's significant other, and an actor in her play and his
ailing wife. The action moves seamlessly from person to person, each one's narrative
illuminating those of the others, and together forming a satisfying whole. Sue Miller
is a wonderfully creative writer who has crafted a fascinating story in "The Lake Shore Limited."
