The Janus Stoneby Elly Griffiths |
Arlene Almas: This is the second in the series of Ruth Galloway
Mysteries by Griffiths. Ruth is an archeologist specializing in bones, and a faculty member at a local
university, living on the north coast of England. She also happens to be pregnant by Harry Nelson, a married
detective whom Ruth helped in solving the murder case of a young girl. With the discovery of the skeletal remains
of a young child at an archeological dig, Ruth's expertise is again requested in the service of the resulting
murder investigation. In this book, Griffiths (through Ruth) depicts ancient Roman and Christian rituals which
have a bearing on the case. Other eccentric characters come into play, adding depth and interest to the narrative.
I enjoyed following Ruth's story, and I'm looking forward to the third installment this fall.
