The Evolution of Bruno Littlemoreby Benjamin Hale |
Arlene Almas: Primatologist Lydia Littlemore takes a chimp named Bruno into
her personal care after he tests extraordinarily humanlike in the Behavioral Biology Laboratory at the
University of Chicago. The story of Bruno's evolution from chimp to human in all respects but the physical
(and he even does something about that!), narrated by Bruno himself, is told by the author in a way that is
curiously believable. Bruno also relates the growth of the relationship between himself and Lydia, leading
to the story's unfortunate (although not completely so) conclusion. This unusual story may not be for everyone,
but I found it held my interest.
