Something Blue

Something Blue

by Emily Giffin

Loren Poley: Something Blue is probably best read after reading the author’s preceding book, Something Borrowed; but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Darcy, the main character in Something Blue, is a mean-spirited villainess in Griffin’s first novel but becomes a sympathetic and likable main character in this one. She is a shallow, materialistic girl who always gets everything (including men) that she wants until her best friend runs off with her fiancé, and Darcy becomes pregnant with the groomsman’s baby. Even though Darcy is self-centered and delusional, the author makes her an extremely likable character. The story is a very enjoyable summer book. I’ll definitely read Something Borrowed next.
