Debbie Weiss: This is a sweet book about a little girl names Lori Jean who is part of a very dysfunctional family. In spite of the poverty around her and in spite of the loss to death of various people who are very close to her, she remains optimistic about life and the future that lies ahead for her and her family. She tries to do the right things in life and all she wants is to be loved and to have a "normal" family. Unfortunately, this was all not meant to be and there is no happy ending. We see how cruel adults can really be and we see how children always try to forgive the ones they love.Rating: ****
