Ordinary Thunderstormsby William Boyd |
Arlene Almas: This is an intensely exciting novel about
a man who finds himself in a perilous situation after accidentally coming upon
a dead body in a hotel room and then, again not deliberately, seeing the murderer
outside the hotel. Having been seen by the killer, Adam is in terror of him and
afraid to go to the police; his entire life from that point on consists of living
a hidden existence. Adam proves very resourceful at surviving "off the grid," and
although his life is constantly in danger, he does manage to meet people who come
to his assistance. Boyd's writing is wonderfully brisk, he is excellent at building
suspense, and his characters and dialogue are very realistic and believable. I liked
the book so much that I will be looking for other works by this author.
