This is not my usual type of book but I thought it would be a "light" book to take on vacation.
I have read Lee Smith before and always enjoyed her writing. On Agate Hill
is a story that takes place at the time of the Civil War up in North Carolina.
It is written in the form of a diary which made for an easy read.
Molly Petree is the protagonist in the novel and you follow her
life--all of her trials and tribulations-- from childhood up through old age.
The book was okay for what it was...a late summer read, but nothing more.
It kept my attention and provided insight into life during a critical time in history.
It was a pleasant way to pass the time while enjoying the mountains.
