Fibbi Atiyeh: Everyone in my book group enjoyed
this book. We were amazed that the male author could write such rich
female characters. It was an interesting glimpse into another time
and place, and although it is a work of fiction, so much is based on
actual events it was also like a history lesson. Although there were
events described that brought tears to our eyes and tugged at our hearts,
it was not "dark" overall and we all felt better for having read it,
especially those of us who would normally not chosen this one to read.
If you haven't already considered it for your group, I'd highly recommend it.
