In a Temple of Treesby Suzanne Hudson |
Foley Harper: This book is not light reading,
and for some the beginning of the novel will remind you of John Grisham's
A Time To Kill: the activities of the characters in the book are so
revolting that you don't know if you want to continue. But don't do yourself
a disservice! Continue to read, and you will discover that things are not
as they appear to be. You must read this book very carefully and pay
attention to all of the foreshadowing or you will miss the real point
of this novel. Suzanne does a wonderful job of exposing the secret
lives of some people in a little southern town where the common practice
of racial prejudice has some competition. I look forward to reading her next novel, In the Dark of the Moon.
